jackie, again, blathering about how bad Trump looks, or how the world is going to burn to a cinder tomorrow, are meaningless.   (mick)

-------

If my view (my "blather") was meaningless you wouldn't bother to respond, so let's dispense with the insincere protestation on your way to declaring some kind of Pyrrhic victory in the face of the unpleasant reality.

If you enjoy watching the systematic dismantling of our basic institutions, reversal of hard-fought progressive initiatives,  trashing of our values and norms on the vague hope that 'something better' is going to magically take place via revolution, then so be it.  I'm aware of your enchantment with revolution.  Generally speaking, they are protracted horror shows (which admittedly does have its fans; look at Trumpers at his 'rallies').

Do you have a time frame for this successful outcome you envision?   I seriously doubt  whatever you're defining as success  will happen in our lifetimes.  This is going to be a slog through domestic violence (watch your mail and surroundings), economic upheaval, humanitarian and environmental crisis, division and civil disorder.  People will suffer.  Are suffering.

Have fun from your perch on the bleachers.

So called 'progressive" initiatives and programs are in contradiction to a free society and individual liberty on which our country was founded!

You're right, Nate.

If 'your cause' is for people to NOT have jobs, NOT have benefits, and be dependent on government assistance, Trump has not helped it at all.

You mean life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?

Cuz I didn't see health insurance paid for by others, personal safety of an everyday variety,  or any mention of wages in there.

Do you understand what the word "among" means?

That was exceedingly weak.

Before the Midterms, Five Questions for the Political Left

Charlene Carruthers, Truthout: As the 2018 midterm elections near, and I prepare to vote, I join political leftists across the country who remain skeptical about the significance and power of voting. Contending for political power does not begin or end on Election Day. A candidate-based, party-based approach is not a long-term movement-building strategy that lives beyond electoral politics. We need more than reform; we need transformation from what the world is, into what it should be.
