Good Day FSA Members!

I have been away for a while, traveling the world and doing a little spiritual questing! I return to see FSA has degenerated into further ill health due to the lack of mature self-policing by you and lack of oversight by me. The disruptive transition to new ownership of Aimoo and the subsequent migration of a number of members to a new forum didn't help.

I had, at one point, decided to just leave things go (the alternative being to just abandon the whole thing). But FSA has a history of adversity and somehow recovering and living on. The legacy of Jefferson (our founder in the old MSN forum), Sam B, Karmapolice, and Thomas deserves more than that from me and I shall endeavor to give it another shot. That said, I will still employ a laissez faire style of managing things and let you all pretty much have your way.

I would like each of you to review the following guidelines and feel free to comment, criticize, complain, compliment (yeah, right!), all you like. I will happily take those into consideration in crafting whatever rules I choose to employ. But remember this: FSA is mine and this is not a democratic undertaking. I interpret and enforce rules as I see fit, or don't -- my call. I will be fair according to my version and my say is final. If you cannot handle that you are free to depart. If you cause undue disruption I will arrange your departure myself.

No gratuitous personal attacks.

No racially offensive language.

No "C" word.

No large cut and paste posts. Learn how to copy a link or don't bother.

No re-doing member nicknames in an offensive or vulgar way.

I think that will do for now.

Have a nice day!

Your pal, bones1776

I have deleted the thread about a certain member. A longstanding FSA rule was that no member be singled out as the subject of a critical thread. If there is a problem serious enough to do that, the problem is better brought to my attention and I will decide a proper (according to me!) course of action. Often a discreet word privately sent is sufficient to handle the complaint. A thread designed to bash an individual, even one who may deserve it, is not really in keeping with the purpose of FSA. We are here, or at least should be, to discuss important issues in politics.

Funny that memory of the thread title rule was brought up. They had to be clear and meaningful - none of this "Breaking!" and "What do you think?" stuff. Threads were, in the early days, meant to be lengthy discussions, not brief bytes. I long for that to be the case again. I can dream, can't I?

Live it or live with it.

Yek brought up 'clear titles.'  It was one of the very best rules.  Sometimes, the moderators such as wheels would rewrite one.  More often they would just delete the thread and have the author fix it.  The titles right now are actually informative with one exception.  So, my compliments to the writers.

Guilty, as charged. My threads usually drop like a rock after I talk to myself for one or two posts, anyway. Next time I'll try to say more.

We're all prisoners of conscious.~

By the way, I will continue to have a pretty "hands off" approach to the place. I am still working 2 jobs and have a continuing military obligation (drill this weekend as a matter of fact). I will not read everything posted by everyone. If I run across something that is particularly awful I will deal with it. Y'all play nice!

I had NO problen being the subject of a thread, no matter what emphasis was placed and for the record it was NOT deserved.

Heya Bones...good to see you. Naughty toddlers have little appreciation for a benevolent dictator, but I thank you for your perseverance. I'm probably in the minority, but I prefer a hands off style. Whenever you are absent, I just miss your posts so...more of those, please!!! Oh, and, as always, I vote we double your pay!!!

Hey QZ! I appreciate the kind thoughts. I anticipate having a bit more time to offer up a post or two and look forward to reading yours as well!
