To be honest, I am surprised on both counts.  Skrumpie and freebird will be allong shortly and blame the clintons

Come to the Dark Side. We have cookies. The advantage of insinuations over hard arguments is that they bypass critical thought. No one can respond precisely to a charge that is utterly vague or to accusers who will envelope any reply in a poisonous fog of further insinuations. ~ David Warren, The Guardian There was a time when there was enough freedom that it hardly mattered which brand of crooks ran government. That has not been true for a long time and that captures an important point. The more powerful the government becomes, the more people are willing to do in order to seize the prize, and the more afraid they become when someone else has control. ~ Glenn Harlan Reynolds “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it. It seems there is a shortage of workers. It seem there is confusion over tariffs. It seems that the fed finally seems raising interest rates is slowing investment and he stock market. Amazon is raising minimum wages which will put a lot more pressure on other companies like warehouses and retail which do not face foreign competition. I still don't know what to make of it. Damn Clintons

Now, we have the stock market and bond market both tank. Here's when I wish I knew a lot more. My money is in market funds and bond funds. So, I got hammered. Still, although I am myopic - Pollyanna? - I think it is tied to the fed finally raising interest rates. Of course Trumps bat shit crazy tariff war with China is not so good either. Let's wait and look at corporate profits

The potential of the shitshow the federal government has set up is... bad.  When the government suppressed interest rates, people stopped saving money and looked elsewhere for some sort of shield against monetary inflation (also caused by the government).  Often, this was done to us involuntarily by removing the choice to place funds into interest bearing accounts.  That happened to AK state employees not long ago.  So... nest eggs, rainy day funds, retirement savings... call it what you will... got put into the stock and bond market.

When will people learn?  Governments are not to be trusted.
