I'll start: I'm still marveling at the 2014 performance of that Bumgarner kid. Do you realize that with his post-season innings he pitched 270 of them this year? Amazing, given what his contemporaries manage. I hope he stays healthy. I doubt that he will, what with those dangerous mechanics, but may he thrive for years to come. What a kid! What a pro!

Curling is big in Minnesota.  I am trying to get a group of old farts to go to the rink with me just for fun...

I tried curling once. It's really hard. It doesn't make for great TV, but I appreciate it for what it is. Of course, it comes nowhere near the excitement of the best ice sport in the world: NHL hockey. In fact, when you see an NHL game in person, you're convinced that it's the best sport in the world. I've attended MLB games, NFL games, and NBA games, but none of them amaze you as much as an NHL game.

(And yes -- congrats to the American women for their well-earned gold over an excellent Canadian team.)

Shaquem Griffin...the incredible tackling machine from The U of Central Florida...just got drafted by the Seahawks and will be able to play with his brother.

Damn...sure wish my Dolphins would have taken him earlier. He will make the teams that passed on him...pay.

Shaquem helped UCF go undefeated and beat Auburn in the bowl game. He ran the fastest 40 for a linebacker in the past 10 years. I wish him all the luck in the world...except when he plays the Dolphins.

So happy for this young man.

Hey Army Guy!

When UCF played my alma mater U of South Florida last season...called the I-4 rivalry, I remember seeing #18 Griffin. Of course he was all the talk because of losing his arm when he was a kid...and because he was such a good player.

I wish him well...unless they play our Panthers of course.
