There is a great deal to be outraged right now: Russian interference, ICE raids in hospital rooms, Eroding LGBTQ rights, Vanishing environmental protections, Puerto Rico still in shambles, Flint still without clean water, unparalleled gun homicides, a compromised Evangelical Church, raising hate crimes, the sabotaging on the Affordable Care Act. - John Pavlovitz Their blood is on YOUR hands.

No, but I'd like to know.  There were several different fungi growing that I didn't recognize.

My garden is still putting out Thai chilis, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, Asian eggplants, and basil! If I ever go home from work I'll try to take a pic and show off a little. The end of summer is tough for me -- I love the warm season.

My basil is still growing, but only because I covered it to protect it from a frost we had earlier this week.  I picked two grocery bags full of jalapenos to pickle.   The same night I picked the jalapenos, I picked the last of the tomatoes, eggplant and several bags of bell and poblano peppers while my husband was picking the rest of the raspberries.  You probably have at least a month longer growing season than we do.  I'd love to see photos of your garden.

Supersonic skydiver breaks three world records during his descent from balloon 24 miles above the Earth's surface.

Standing at the edge of space above the deserts of New Mexico, Felix Baumgartner paused slightly. It was a small step away from the capsule, but a 24-mile drop back down to earth.

"Our guardian angel will take care of you," said mission control, and the man known as Fearless Felix jumped.

Ten heart-stopping minutes later the Austrian landed back on Earth, after reaching speeds of up to 725mph, and breaking three world records, including becoming the world's first supersonic skydiver by breaking the sound barrier at Mach 1.24.

Former Austrian military parachutist Felix Baumgartner jumps from balloon-lifted capsule 24 miles up.

Baumgartner, who claimed the records for the highest altitude manned balloon flight and the highest altitude skydive, raised his arms in a victory salute to thank his team.

He was wearing a specially designed survival suit that kept his body intact against the hugely varying pressures that marked his drop back to earth. Without it, his blood would have boiled and his lungs might have exploded.

Baumgartner later told a press conference: "When I was standing there on top of the world, you become so humble, you don't think about breaking records." He admitted all he could think about was getting back alive, but added: "Sometimes you have to go up really high to see how small you are."
His other two records were for the highest altitude manned balloon flight and the highest altitude skydive.

The success of the mission, and of the suit, raises the prospect that astronauts might be able to survive a high altitude disaster of the type that struck the space shuttle Columbia in 2003 by actually bailing out of their craft.

Baumgartner's top medical man in the stunt was Dr Jonathan Clark, whose wife Laurel Clark died in the Columbia accident. Clark is now dedicated to improving astronauts' chances of survival in a high-altitude disaster.

We've all known people like Trump...and Trumpie - that creep you can never trust because they are always looking for an angle, a way to cheat people out of their money. A way to reneg on a contract, to not pay in full......they are con artists. Trump does this kind of thing because he believes that because he's very wealthy, the rules of decency do not apply to him and of course, he can threaten to sue anyone. When poor people act like Trump - well they do it because they are scammers. They have no ethics in business or in life.

So that's what a dusting of snow looks like.  We in LA don't fully comprehend the vocabulary of snow-adjectives. It's said (inaccurately) the eskimos have dozens of terms.  :-)  Anyway, what a beautiful picture (again), Doe Eyes.  I can almost feel the chill in the air.

It had turned quite cold for this time of year, more like what we get in January, but then, as it is with Kentucky weather, this weekend our temps were mild, in the 60s, along with the damaging storms that moved through the Midwest.

Blood Falls stains the snow-white face of Taylor Glacier in Antarctica. Scientists say the mysterious red flow is caused by a subterranean lake rich in iron.

Are those your dogs, Bones?  What do they think of the snow?  My old dog loved the snow.  I guess it's unusual to get snow that far south?

My friend, last I heard, was in Tennessee, so she's almost home.  I think they stopped for the night because she said it took them 5 hours to get from Macon to Atlanta.

Yep, those are my babies. The GSD is the grown up version of my puppy avatar. We went out to play in the snow and I could barely get them back in the house. They both love it! We're a bit north and west of Atlanta in the foothills but it's rare to get this much snow. Every few years and that's just fine with me.
