I've been friends with a woman in South Africa since the 1980's so I kind of pay attention to what goes on there.  Her description of S.A. since the end of apartheid differs significantly from the media's depiction which shouldn't surprise anyone, really.

If you haven't heard, last week the government of south africa kicked the Boers off of their land.  The Boers are still being held responsible for any mortgage notes on the land that they no longer own but most of them have said, fuck off.

Generally speaking, when something like this happens, you can start the clock on the famine and genocide.  My friend isn't a farmer but she and her husband have faced relentless abuse and discrimination since the end of apartheid.  They left the country several times because her husband could not get a job because he's white.  They own, for the moment, a house so they returned from Tanzania because they got tired of malaria and they'd hoped things had settled down in S.A. during their absence.

It hasn't.

UPDATE: White South Africans face genocide...

Their eldest daughter got a job as an au pair in North Carolina, she arrives the end of this month so she's safe for a while.  The rest of them are stuck in S.A.  One of the reasons behind my sudden interest in cryptocurrency is the possibility it offers for me to get them money fast hopefully without governmental interference.

US history in regard to refugees of genocide is spotty, at best, so getting them out of there seems hopeless.  Given that almost no mainstream media coverage of this is happening, it seems unlikely to me that unka sam will give the same warn welcome he's been giving to somalis or syrians and I doubt any of the EU will, either.  Maybe the Dutch but I doubt it.

There has been coverage of the events in S.A.  It's come from independent journalists on Youtube and my admiration for Youtube grows despite it's hostility toward (classical)liberal and conservative views.  It's come a long way from cat videos... if you care to look about.

One of the more prominent independent journalists is Lauren Southern.  Here's some of her work on current events in S.A.

So, Chumbucket, how come a fine Brit like you landed here instead of somewhere you could do some good, like Africa?  Your no better than that Carib bitch.

Wow.  You radiate hatred like you're possessed.    Whatever happened that makes you this way must have been gawd-awful.

How much more angry do you think she would be if a Carib bitch pointed out it's "you're" not "your".
Segovia is living in a world where black people could now show her how ignorant, stupid and uneducated she is and she is not dealing with it very well.

And she will be sure not to let her disrespect go higher than the word "bitch"......if you know what i mean.

Posting her hate and not getting banned is more important to her than calling me what she wants to call me.

I'm sure right now you're wishing i was Italian or Mexican so that you can use the words wop or wetback without being banned.

You can't live without it Segovia. Apart from Stormfront, you don't have another avenue for your racism. you certainly cannot go around in public using the words you use in private.  And you really, really need that. don't you?

No, but there is plenty of honor in being called a racist.

Being called a racist today means you have the right enemies.

Being called a racist means you refuse to bow down to Progressive’s Owellian definition of words.

It means you think for yourself.

It means you do not succumb to groupthink, and allowing the dominant media label you and villify you because you will not accept their agenda.

Being called a racist has lost any of semblance of connection with *being* a racist. People who are obvious, blatant racists are never called racist by the powers that be-- if they are the politically correct color.

Twain uses the word "@@@@@@" in Huck Finn and a couple of Tom Sawyer books, which has been controversial since they were written. He is referring to "Big Jim" but as Finn and Sawyer not as himself the books take place about 20 years after the civil war. The books are actually anti-racist and I'm not sure exactly what groups opposed but it was wide spread and actually more in the south. It happened in my grammar school(CA), although it failed and was not taken off and that was in 1958.

Is she using Mark Twain instead of the word she is desperate to use?

Wouldn't she be better off to use the words of someone who was actually racist?

Pot, meet kettle.
This and the boys thread have altered my core beliefs.  You “people” on the left are horrifying.

You keep using words like evil and horrifying. you do understand that your friends have been living in a country where those same words have been used to describe a government who created laws to the benefit of people like your friends, right? What have your friends told you about the Native Lands Act of 1913?

As we see here, the left supports mass murder and genocide.

So... yes.  Evil and horrifying describe the left quite well.

Really? What have your friends told you about the Native Lands Act of 1913? Have they told you of the genocide in South Africa before and including the 80's? Take a look at a list that was displayed at the end of the movie Cry Freedom. It's about the life of Steven Biko. Have you friends told you about Steven Bik, Alaska? Have they told you of all the men and women who died in police custody? In the background is the hauntingly beautiful SA National Anthem. Take a look and listen. We could talk about the mass murder and genocide that has been part and parcel of the SA life, even if your friends were not concerned about it before......if you still want to.
