I had the song “The man who shot Liberty Valance” stuck in my head for three weeks now.  Is there a way to make it stop?

Yes, it's happened to me more than once NFF but not so often it's worth concern.  Most recently, the incandescently beautiful first phrase of "Plaisir d'amour" as performed by Nana Mouskouri was playing in my head like a stuck needle on vinyl disk... Lol.

That maddening phenomenon is called a tune nag, an earworm, and a few other things. As for a cure, apparently a couple of methods may be helpful such as working soduku or crossword puzzles, reading a novel, or even chewing gum! (read link, below).
It's also suggested by research that those with OCD and musicians may more easily and frequently acquire earworms, and that OCD meds have been shown to help.

I think most people don't need to go to those lengths, the involuntary replay just needs to fizzle out.   Reassuring to know it's a common minor annoyance, and will eventually fade until the next one comes along ...

And, if you're not afraid to listen ...
